Happy New Year!!!!!!! Before we jump into 2026, we wanted to share a few pictures of the end of 2025. From baking cookies, making ornaments, and festivities around our Tepee Tree, we bid 2025 farewell!!

At Natural Wonders Early Learning Center in Verona, VA we are all about the holiday season!!!! Creativity and Persistence is so important for building positive social/emotional skills that will continue throughout our lives. And, team building games are a huge part of becoming a positive influence on each other!

Our Fall Tepee Fun
Our colorful tepee is up for our Fall/Holiday Season!!!!! By using different sizes and lengths of ribbons, the children are learning such things as how to weave leaves, flowers, more ribbon and sticks through the tepee. Our favorite seems to be the cornstalks and sticks so far! This encourages creativity and persistence. Along with fine motor skills, using their fingers to weave in items from nature. Thanks to our Nature Trails, we have abundant ideas for tepee decor!!!!!!
Our Playgrounds
Our playgrounds are vast and certain areas are focused around certain age groups. This particular area is part of our Mud Play. In it, we have running water, a rain barrel, an herb garden, sand and rock tables, paint brushes, shovels, buckets, etc. When the days are warm enough, everyone, teachers, students, etc, always bring extra clothes, because, we just go ahead and count on getting wet!!!!!! Incorporating nature into outdoor play encourages children to use their imagination for individual play, fine and gross motor skill play, and it encourages meaningful relationships between students and teachers.

Different activities our children have been doing

This week at the center was filled with creativity, exploration, and lots of festive Thanksgiving fun! Each classroom enjoyed making their own Thanksgiving story bracelets, using colorful beads to help retell and remember the holiday's traditions and meaning.
We also embraced the season with a variety of hands-on projects. The children loved creating bug hotels, giving our outdoor friends a cozy place to stay as the weather cools. Our classrooms were full of laughter as everyone worked on turkey headbands, and our painted sun catchers added beautiful bursts of color to our windows. Along with these activities, the children enjoyed many other crafts that let them express their imagination and celebrate the spirit of the holiday.
In addition to all the creative fun, the children had a great time playing Thanksgiving-themed games and spending extra moments on our nature trail, exploring the outdoors and noticing the changes of the season.
It was a wonderful week of teamwork, storytelling, and creativity as we prepared for Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Story Bracelet With this bracelet you will know (Start with a pipe cleaner.)The first Thanksgiving that was long, long ago.The Pilgrims set sail from far awayOn the Mayflower with tall white sails. (Insert a white bead.)They sailed many days across the ocean blue. (Add a blue bead.)The seas were rough, but the ship came through. At last they spotted land so green. (String on a green bead.)They were so happy they cheered and screamed. The first year was so hard and black. (Now a black bead.)Many died and wished that they could go back. But the Native Americans gave them a handAnd helped them survive in the strange new land. They decided to celebrate in a special wayAnd that became the first Thanksgiving day. They prepared a feast with turkeys brown (Add a brown bead.)And red cranberries that they had found. (Time for a red bead.)Yellow corn that they had learned to grow (Insert a yellow bead.)And orange pumpkin pies, don’t you know! (Last an orange bead.)But before they ate the turkey and dressing,They all held hands for a thankful blessing. (Twist the ends of the pipe cleaner to make a bracelet.)
