Halloween Celebration at Natural Wonders
Our Halloween celebration was filled with excitement, creativity, and plenty of spooky fun! We kicked off the day with a lively parade around the bike track, dancing to festive Halloween music. The children then went trick-or-treating from room to room, practicing their best "Trick or Treat!" for tonight's adventures.
Next, we headed to the gym for some hands-on Halloween science and crafts. The children mixed colorful fruit juices with Sprite to make bubbling potion drinks, created spider web crafts, and even made a pumpkin erupt using vinegar and baking soda! There were also fun games like bean bag toss, temporary tattoos, and face painting.
Using their find moto skills, the children carefully picked spider rings from the web and used a kaleidoscope to search for hidden dino eggs.
After a morning full of magic and exploration, everyone enjoyed a festive lunch of mummy dogs-the perfect lunch for a frightfully fun day at Natural Wonders!
Our walk to the pumpkin patch and pumpkin decorating activity at Natural Wonders offered rich opportunities for children to grow across multiple areas of development. During the walk, children strengthened their gross motor skills by navigating varied terrain, practicing balance, coordination, and endurance. They also developed social-emotional skills as they walked together, took turns, and shared excitement about choosing their own pumpkins. The experience encouraged language development through conversation, questioning, and storytelling about what they observed in nature along the way.
When painting and decorating their pumpkins, children engaged their fine motor skills by using brushes, glue, and small decorative materials with control and creativity. These artistic experiences fostered self-expression, creativity, and decision-making as each child personalized their pumpkin. The process also supported cognitive growth through color recognition, patterning, and problem-solving when deciding how to design their pumpkin, Overall, this seasonal experience combined movement, exploration, creativity, and collaboration-helping children connect more deeply with nature and their peers while building essential developmental skills.
